Devlog: Thinking about final encounter mechanics


So last week I started thinking about what mechanics would go into the final encounter. This is the part where I generally consider any and all ideas I come up with, and get them written down. 

I've already written quite a few ideas. I've had some longstanding ideas for this and some new spur of the moment ones too. As I build out the basic ritual this week (making it a clone of the first one more or less), I'll be thinking on which mechanics I will try and actually incorporate.

I try to think about them in terms of how thematic they are to the demon, difficulty to play, difficulty to program, and how much new art will be needed. And of course, I try and limit it to maybe 3 or 4 new mechanics, tops. 

And so far, everytime I've come up with new mechanics, they end up getting tweaked during playtesting anyway, sometimes pretty substantially. Either way, time to finally get this Ritual going...
