Devlog: Colored Runes, Fast Transitions, More Dialogue
RitualBound had been bumped to the front page about 2 weeks ago, and that resulted in a spike of new players. I received a few pieces of feedback from all that, so this week I put Ritual 4 temporarily on hold while I implemented some of the changes. That way I can make sure I build Ritual 4 with all of these new features from the get go, instead of having to go back and re-program then re-test the Ritual.
The most requested feature so far is Colored Runes, which is now designed/programmed and about to go into external testing. There was also a suggestion to speed up the menus, so I have been experimenting with an option that greatly speeds up the screen fade transition, as well as the scoring screen animations. It's implemented on Zazginak so far.
There's also a suggestion for more dialogue. I implemented new starting dialogue for Zazginak that plays if you have already attempted the Ritual before (but not when Retrying), that varies based on how well you did. I also want to add in some new random lines during the Ritual, so it's not always the same every time.
I will see how far I get with all that this coming week. If it seems likes its going to take a while to do all this, I will release the Colored Runes option as a specific release sooner rather than later.
